Sri Kuala Lumpur International school has just concluded their annual concert with a charitable theme; “A Musical Fusion” which aimed to raise funds to be donated to the Children’s Wish Society of Malaysia. The event held at Great Hall started at 8.00 pm, featuring numerous dance and singing performances put up by the talented students of Sri KL.
It didn’t help that I was terribly sick while on the job, but thankfully, I managed to hold myself together, varying my shots greatly from wide to tele at various moments to produce just the right diversity in the images. The dynamic stage lighting, as expected, was poor and unpredictable, requiring me to flash fill when necessary on mostly manual mode on the 5D Mk3. Otherwise, it would have been ambient-only in AV mode with my ISO at 2500 most of the time.
Each performance lasted on average between 3-5 minutes. Taking composition and anticipation into account, there really weren’t that many shots for each performance. I was going easy on the shutter to grab only what I need or felt worth capturing. My concentration and focus were taking huge hits from my gnawing disability in general weakness as well.
Nevertheless, here are some selected shots culled from a final count of 500 pictures for the night.
There were close to 20 performances during the 3-hours event. A cheque-presentation ceremony was held shortly before the break, with Sri Kuala Lumpur’s CEO, Hanif Othman Merican presenting a mock cheque of RM 20,000 to a representative from the Children’s Wish Society of Malaysia.
