Spending a short one week summer in Helsinki was an exciting experience as it was my first time visiting a Scandinavian country. Much of the excitement stemmed from the many things I’ve read and seen in media about the culture, climate, education and economic prowess of the Nordic countries.
Unfortunately, it was a really short stay but it was indeed an exhilarating opportunity to explore the visual makeup of the bustling central business district and the amazing tranquility of coastal outdoors. The former was realised through the miles of walking done in Helsinki city centre and its suburbs, while the latter, experienced in the beautiful and impressive sea fortress of Suomenlinna.
Here are just a small sample of photos taken during the trip which also included a one day excursion to the old town of Porvoo.
