My first time setting foot in Hong Kong, a land of rude awakening, literally. Barely a day into this short 5-days trip, I developed a somewhat discomforting knot in my stomach. Suddenly, all the TVB dramas, Hongkie celebrities, Cantonese comedies and action movies – with whom I’ve grown up with in my early years – merged into a blur of twisted reality. They don’t seem to add up. I wonder.
This trip coincided with the aftermath of Typhoon Hato; in fact, I arrived just about 5 days after the natural disaster subsided. Despite the many unpleasant experiences encountered during this visit (particularly with the locals), I have to say Hong Kong does have one of the tastiest noodles I’ve ever had. The sheer scale of the congestion and density in this crunched urban setup is simply beyond imagination.
