I was finally back photographing the KL International Jazz Festival 2014 at University Malaya. This popular music event made its debut at the leading public university in Malaysia last year.
I was attending this event as more of a guest than a working photographer, hence the coverage of only two performances at the Experimental Theatre; the UM Big Band and that of David Tughan, the UK Jazz singer who performed his session of "Chetting: A Tribute to Chet Baker".
Somehow, the musical Project Wind Dance never fails to excite me with a bagful of surprising elements. Such photo projects really do keep you on your toes and help spur on the flow of creative juices, even when it seems you're being cornered and pressed for time with little forethought.
I've never ever met Yvonne Wang before today's shoot. She was a friend recommended by a long lost high school friend for Project Wind Dance.
After much procrastination, with a final slight push of motivation and inspiration, I set off shooting my first candidate for Project Wind Dance, a personal musical project.
This photo project aims to document music lovers, practitioners, hobbyists and professional performers who have somewhat found their calling in music, whatever that may be.
