Finally, I’ll be having my first joint photo exhibition at Pelita Hati Gallery next Wednesday, titled “Being There” in support of World Hepatitis Day, Malaysia. I’ll be exhibiting 22 limited edition 24″ x 16″ prints (all first edition out of seven each), printed on Digital Type-C print on Kodak Endura Paper.
Most of the pictures are drawn from my Coast to Coast series and extensive travel collections (UK, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Japan and Oman). All prints will be on sale. A portion from the proceeds of the sale will go to the World Hepatitis Day, Malaysia fund.
“Being There” is an exhibition of photographs by several photographers. Together the pictures constitute a mosaic of colours, shapes and moods, sometimes fascinating, sometimes intriguing but always pleasing to look at. They have an enduring quality about them, which like all good art will constantly draw our eyes to them.
It feels as though so much have taken place in such a short period of time. And I’m talking about just one and a half months since this whole World Hepatitis Day, Malaysia photo project was seriously brought to attention in mid April. From nothing to something exhibition-worthy, right up to getting the needed personalities and celebrities to be photographed with placards. They were all truly a huge undertaking. I feel wasted and stretched but not without any exhilaration and satisfaction from this fulfilling endeavour.
Throughout this short journey into the unknown with very limited resources, I’ve met many who were kind enough to lend a helping hand. There were of course those who turned us down; which only drove us to work harder towards finding an alternative route. Eventually everything came out just the way we envisioned, if not better.
“Being There” previews on Wednesday 15 June 2011 and ends on Thursday 30 June 2011, with the launch planned on 19 June 2011. You can find your way there quite easily as it’s just off Jalan Bangsar.
Do drop by whenever time permits. Appreciate the support. Till then.
