There are 3 things which I love the most in life (let’s just leave the compulsory “loved-ones” and religion out of the equation for now). Fitness, photography and food. When it comes to food, the kitchen is to me, what play dough is to a child.
The kitchen isn’t just a place where food is prepared and cooked. It’s where ideas are brewed, fermented, reinvented, tested and manufactured! Thus, that explains the degree of attachment I have with kitchens.
I was over at a friend’s place for dinner when I decided to take a couple of shots of her lovely kitchen. It was a really nice and cozy kitchen to kill for. Though it wasn’t really big without the iconic and desirable must-have “island” prep table in every chef-wannabe’s heart, it was warm and well decorated.
More importantly, the kitchen was decently organized, functional and aesthetically pleasing. It does transport one’s experience back to that of an old english cottage in the country side.
I took all these pictures at f/11, between 1.5 to 2.5 sec @ ISO 100, subtly balanced with two speed lights. I manually exposed for the lighting fixtures’ ambient light, thereby underexposing the whole scene. I then brought in the flashes to lift up my light levels, and further tweak the contrast and exposure in Photoshop, not to mention, having the perspectives and lines straightened.
After a great meal or cook-out, I’m sure lazing at one of these couches at the lounge wouldn’t be too much of a royalty to ask for.
