I’ve finally decided to do something different with kindergarten photography, well, not that much a difference, but different enough to break the boredom streak plaguing most kindergarten portraits. I was engaged to do a kindergarten photography session for a group of 2-5 and 6 years old.
Yes, the group/class pictures were a nightmare trying to get everyone to look at the camera (note, not even smiling! Just getting them to not act strange), like this.
As for the individual portraits, a simple waist-up shots for the 2-5 years old were as follows:
I did the same for the 6 years old; however, as the kindergarten photography package calls for extra angles and print size, I did an in-camera cropped landscape shot of the child looking away. I took the shots from a slightly below eye level for maximum impact and opened pretty wide for a shallower depth of field.
