About

Melvin Tong @ Mudframes PhotographyMelvin Tong of Mudframes Photography is an undecorated but avid professional Malaysian photographer whose main artistic interests are people and the places where they work. These themes spread through a sizeable part of his expanding works. The underlying artistic expression is also seen in the broad range of his commercial works that includes portraitures, travel and living, weddings, food, products and interior photography among others.

Melvin also takes keen interest in specialized photography projects or personal works that feature environmental portraits and ‘documentary’ pictures captured and rendered with fine-art flavors.

Besides having a notable portfolio of commercial works, Melvin also provides premium photography services for social, family, children and corporate events. Whether it’s a need to create the ultimate personal memento or to fulfill stringent corporate and product visual branding, Melvin ensures your needs are met.

“I find taking a picture is very much an observation in reservation, leading to interaction, and finally acceptance; though denial is an element of contend.

I live in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; it’s a beautiful country. I must say, I increasingly find myself visualizing all the inspiring scenes of theatrical proportions happening here with Tchaikovsky’s “Piano Concerto No. 1 (First Movement)” gradually building up to its crescendo, and a subtle intermittent waft of Bach’s “Air on The G String”, while people running slow-mo, crying and laughing in a sea of black and white.

I’m currently working on project Exodus: Living in Exile, to photo document Malaysians and ex-Malaysians who have left the country for good. The photos will be exhibited as part of ongoing efforts in highlighting the many obvious truths that escape the consciousness of most Malaysians.

I’ve completed my first joint photography exhibition in Pelita Hati Gallery & its follow-up photography exhibition as a supporting event in Sunway Pyramid to commemorate World Hepatitis Day on July 28, 2011. Similarly, I had worked on the same event at One Utama from July 27 – 29, 2012.

My first solo exhibition featuring selected pictures from my Coast to Coast collection launched on February 12, 2012 was on display at Leonardo’s Restaurant, Jalan Bangkung.

Please do feel free to keep in touch“.
