Exeltis Pharma, a branded pharmaceutical business division of Chemo Group, the Spanish-based integrated healthcare multinational (headquarter in Madrid), has launched its generic drospirenone-containing oral contraceptive pills at a media briefing event held at PJ Hilton. This momentous occasion marks the entry of generic drospirenone-containing oral contraceptive pills into the Malaysian market coincided with the celebration of World Contraception Day which falls on the 26 September every year. In conjunction with World Contraception Day, Exeltis Pharma announced the results of its first regional market survey on prescribing behaviours in the female hormones market. The market survey was conducted in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand and involved general practitioners (GPs), pharmacists, and obstetricians and gynaecologists (O&Gs) to obtain insights into the treatment landscape and unmet needs of women in Malaysia and the region. The “Take Action Now” campaign aimed at empowering women in taking responsibility over their sexual reproductive health and prevention of unplanned pregnancy is supported by 3 NGOs; Obstetrical & Gynaecological Society of Malaysia (OGSM), Federation of Reproductive Health Association of Malaysia (FRHAM) and International Planned Parenthood Foundation (IPPF). After the Media Briefing event in the morning session, the Bloggers Workshop event was up next in the afternoon which saw a good turn out of more than 10 female bloggers.
